One of the librarians just wandered into our office and gave us all lychees to eat.

This weekend, I went birdwatching, but didn’t see too many birds.  We walked for about three hours through woods and meadows and around ponds and the river (Delaware). Got a bit of sunburn, found a piece of beach glass.

Shopped at IKEA (more walking), ate some kebab.

Then Miss Plum and I went blueberry picking, got more sunburn, and baked a pie. A pretty good pie, too.

8 random bits of me

i have been tagged by Beulah and Plum, so here goes:

1. I had a speech impediment when I was in grade school-I slurred my s’s and my j’s. I went to speech therapy for a few years, and finally figured out how to speak so that air didn’t pass through my cheeks and make a whirr. I still have trouble with words that begin with ‘J’.

2. I hate drinking water. I have to force myself to do it, hoping it will help with my migraines.

3. I’m left-handed, but I can use scissors with my right.

4. I’m practically a tee-totaller, but I do enjoy an occasional gin drink.

5. incensed at the ridiculousness of a Cy Twombly exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, I signed my name to the bottom right corner of a blank white wall in a stairwell of the museum, figuring my completed ‘work’ was just as relevant. My Mother was co-conspirator.

6. In the 90’s, I edited a little ‘zine, which did rather well.

7. In grade school, I spent many years wearing only skirts. I only recently started wearing denim again, after about a 20 year hiatus.

8. If I had been born a boy, my parents were going to name me Gustave.

Like Miss Plum, I cannot imagine that 8 people even read this, so I’ll just suggest that if you do, and would like to follow the tag, please do.

Cold objects [delight astronomers]

How come I have no problem with the idea of dried grapes, and dried cranberries, and dried banana, but dried strawberries creep me out?

They are meandering around my cereal flakes right now, and I’m not sure I like it.

Yesterday, Kenny and I took a walk and spied two red-bellied woodpeckers in a tree at Knight’s park. I’m going back with my camera and alot of free time.

Today I became a personal shopper, with a specialty in finding stylish but butch maternity togs.

Last night, my cats became hunters, with one small gray mouse proudly left in our living room. The husband was totally in awe of the majesty and primal instinct-ness of it all. All I could think of was, ‘What a pretty little mouse.’

Recently, I have been convinced that I am having a ’sensitivity’ to MSG. What to do, what to do.
